Working Pattern: 15 hours per week, (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)

 

Location: Tower House Youth Centre, Dunfermline

Job Details

 

The Senior Youth Worker (No One Left Behind) delivers targeted, inclusive youth work that supports young people to overcome barriers to education, training, or employment. The role focuses on engaging young people—particularly those furthest from the labour market—using strengthsbased, traumainformed approaches to build confidence, skills, and aspirations. The post works closely with employability, education, and support services to help young people progress towards positive and sustained destinations. 

 

To deliver targeted, inclusive youth work that supports young people to overcome barriers to education, training, or employment. The post contributes to the No One Left Behind agenda by engaging young people—particularly those furthest from the labour market—through strengthsbased, traumainformed approaches, supporting progression to positive and sustained destinations. 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Deliver planned, needsled youth work programmes aligned to No One Left Behind outcomes 

  • Engage young people experiencing disadvantage or multiple barriers through onetoone and group work 

  • Support young people to develop confidence, employability skills, wellbeing, and resilience 

  • Work collaboratively with employability, education, and partner agencies to support progression pathways 

  • Support young people to access education, training, volunteering, or employment opportunities 

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and outcome reporting 

  • Ensure safeguarding, equality, health & safety, and organisational policies are followed at all times

Skills and Competencies

 

  • Ability to engage and build trusted relationships with young people 

  • Understanding of barriers to employability and youth poverty 

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills 

  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt approaches to meet individual needs 

  • Organisational and recordkeeping skills

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Relevant qualification in Youth Work, Community Learning and Development, or equivalent 

  • Experience of delivering youth work with young people facing barriers to participation or employment 

  • Knowledge of traumainformed and strengthsbased practice 

  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
