Job overview

Outwood Academy Hasland Hall places students at the centre of everything it does, with a focus on creating a culture of success, a positive climate for learning, and increased student attainment, achievement and social and emotional development. We believe that all support staff within our Family of Schools are key posts in terms of securing student success and achievement across a broad range of subjects and experiences.
As a member of the Outwood Family, we believe in putting students first, raising standards and transforming lives.

About the role
The role involves managing the Personal Development Centre (PDC), supporting all students who are referred to this provision and at risk of suspension.

The focus of this role is to plan, organise and deliver a range of opportunities for students, with the aim being to support students' social and emotional health, alongside raising their aspirations, work ethic and discipline and reinforcing positive learning habits.

You must work collaboratively with inclusion coordinators and senior leaders to identify and remove any barriers which may be preventing a student's progress or development; equally, there will be an expectation to communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding students' referrals and progress.

You will be supported by senior leaders and other pastoral staff within the academy to manage the provision and provide appropriate and personalised support for individual students and groups.

While this can be a challenging role, this is one of the most rewarding positions within our academy, with excellent career progression and CPD available.

What are we looking for?
We are looking for individuals who have the passion to support young people, especially those at risk of being removed from education. Ideally, applicants will have experience of supporting young people in this aspect, either through school-based employment or through Youth Work and Services. The individual must have the creativity and commitment to create and implement activities and an ability to work and communicate with others, both internally and externally.

What do we offer?
As part of our continual development, we look forward to work commencing soon on building a brand-new state-of-the-art academy building, providing our students and staff with the very best facilities and educational experience.

The academy benefits from being part of the Outwood Family of Schools, and we intend that every member of staff receives CPD appropriate to the role and, equally, access to a wider range of career progression and development opportunities.

With us, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Connect and collaborate with colleagues across multiple schools: Share best practices, participate in joint projects, and learn from a diverse range of experienced professionals.
  • Develop your skills and expertise: Benefit from a wide range of professional development opportunities and contribute to a dynamic learning community.

  • Make a bigger impact: Your contributions will extend beyond your own classroom and school, influencing and supporting colleagues and students across the community.

  • Be part of something bigger: Experience the strength and support of a close-knit community within the larger Outwood family.

If you have any questions or would like to visit the school, please contact Charlotte Fothergill HR Assistant at C.Fothergill@haslandhall.com.
